- Porcupines evolved 35 million years ago and continue to thrive today. Their built-in protection has made them very successful.
- Porcupines do not shoot their barbed quills. When afraid, they raise their quills and strike attackers with their tails.
- Unlike other rodents, porcupines give birth to just one baby. Called a porcu-pette, it can take care of itself from the very start.
